MUSIC VIDEOS CONTEST

RULES OF THE CONTEST

The rules of the contest regulate the organization, the presentation and awardement to edited music videos, with the aim of dynamize the sector of the visual creation, at the same time that it generates a noteworthy event for the city.



1. Can be submitted works made as a advertising support or complementary of discographic works of independent record companies, or made by the musicians themselves.

2.Can participate record companies, production companies, management companies, groups and any company, association or person related with independent music world.

3. All creators can participate. All musical styles are allowed.

4. Will be allowed unpublished works or published between 2006 and 2008, both included. Can’t be submitted works awarded in previous editions.

5. Will be considered winner the person whose name is written in the technical specifications as a director of the music video.

6. People who takes part in this contest, assume all the responsibility in front of any kind of action or reclamation that could arrive to the Festival made by any individual or legal entity who considers that has royalties on the work. As a participants of the Festival, the authors commit to be the legitimate titulars of an original work.

7. The music videos have to be sent in a closed envelope, with the video clip’s title. Once received, it will become part of the festival. Since the delivery of the music videos, no reclamation is admitted, regardless of whether the video clip has been awarded or not.

8. The envelope also has to contain a list with the credits of all the process of production of the music video that must include, at least:
-Song’s name
-Who plays the song
-Name of the author of the song
-Name of the director of the music video
-Place where the director lives
-Production
-Date of realisation
-Contact address and name of the person of that address

9. Works can be submitted in both formats DVD (PAL 720 x 576) or mini DV.

10. The works will be sent to any cultural centre of the city. Sant Josep’s Cultural Centre (avenue d’Isabel la Catòlica, 32) will be the last recipient.

11. The deadline is 9th May 2008

12. Festival organisers won’t be responsible of lost or damaged deliveries.

13. Jury’s composition is the following:

·President: The deputy mayor in the area on Culture and Education (or person delegated)
-Vice-president: the district councillor (or person delegated)
·Members:
-A scriptwriter or director
-A representative of a production or post-production company
-A representative of a recording studio
-A music critic
-A visual artist
-Festival’s director
·Secretary: City council’s secretary (or person delegated)

The jury is constituted with the presence of the president (or person delegated), the secretary and two members.

While the deliberation, with the aim of being objective, the jury will have numbered copies of the music videos submitted, without any reference to their authors.

14. The verdict will be announced on Saturday 7th June 2008, during the Festival, and it will be unappealable

15. The awards might be considered void by the jury according to the quality of the works submitted.

16. According to the conditions established in the article 2.2.1 of the Royal Decree 1775/2004, of the 30 July, by which is approved the Regulation of the Income Tax, the city council will have a six months period, since the date of awardement, while it will be able to edit and broadcast the winner works with no profit motive in mind.
After this period, the works will pass once and for all to their authors. Whether if the publication and broadcast are made by the city council or by the author, is has to figure in that the work has being awarded in Hospitalet’s 4th Festival of Independent Music Videos.


17. Won’t be accepted any work that in jury’s opinion entails a violation of human rights.

18. The committee that organises the Festival will resolve unilaterally the circumstances not predicted in these rules.

19. Participation in the contest implies knowledge and acceptance of all the terms and conditions, as well as jury and committee decisions.


AWARDS

a)Three prizes are awarded:

1st Award: 1,500 euros
2nd Award, 1,000 euros
People’s Choice Award: 500 euros


b) A 300 euros Consolation Prize will we given to the local work best classified among the finalist video clips.

c) A 500 euros Consolation Prize might be given to that job that has not been awarded but in jury’s opinion deserves a special appreciation.

d) The awarded works plus a selection chosen by the jury will be published in DVD format and will be distributed to the specialized media and agents of the sector.

e)The awarded works will be broadcast in specialized programs of the net of local televisions of Catalonia.

In the awardement will be taken into account the following criterion:

- Direction or realisation
- Editing and mounting and technical quality
- The creative development

AWARD TO A DOCUMENTARY PROJECT ON MUSICAL THEME AT HOSPITALET


RULES


The rules of the contest regulate the organization, the presentation and awardement to a documentary project on musical theme at Hospitalet.


1. The projects can be about any topic aspect or musical style.

2. The theme or the aspect developed in the documentries have to ba about the reality or the musical history of Hospitalet or about citizen of Hospitalet related with the music.

3. Can participate all the creators, wheter if they are, or not, from Hospitalet.

4. The documentary has to be, at least, 30 minutes long.

5. Jury’s composition is the following:

·President: The deputy mayor in the area on Culture and Education (or person delegated)
-Vice-president: the district councillor (or person delegated)
·Members:
-A scriptwriter or director
-A representative of a production or post-production company
-A representative of a recording studio
-A music critic
-A visual artist
-Festival’s director
·Secretary: City council’s secretary (or person delegated)

6. The project has to be made during 2008 and will be presented during 2009 Festival edition.

7. The person whose project win, promises to carry out as much accurate as possible the project submitted and to respect the deadline of the project, pointed out in rule number 5.

8. The committee will be able to grant an extension of time for making the documentary when they see fit it, and always because of a justifiable cause.

9. The presentation of the project has to include, at least:
-Author data and a contact address
-Curriculum
-Description of the project
-Script
-Sketch of the storyboard

10. The deadline for the presentation of the projects is 9th May 2008

11. The works will be sent to any cultural centre of the city. Sant Josep’s cultural centre (avenue d’Isabel la Catòlica, 32) will be the last recipient.

12. The project selected will be announced on Saturday 7th June 2008, while during the Festival, and it will be unappealable.

13. The projects have to be submitted in CD-ROM support.

14. To choose the winner project will be taken into account the originality and creativity, as well as the viability.

15. Won’t be accepted any work that in jury’s opinion entails a violation of human rights.

16. The committee that organises the Festival will resolve unilaterally the circumstances not predicted in these rules.
17. Participation in the contest implies knowledge and acceptance of all the terms and conditions, as well as jury and committee decisions.




AWARDS

b) A 500 euros award might be given to that project that has not been awarded but that, in jury’s opinion, deserves a special appreciation.
